Morpheus Theatre Rehearsal Centre
3512 5th Ave NW, Calgary, AB T2N 0V7

Unleash your imagination with Jupiter Theatre’s Puppetry for Film and Theatre Workshop Series!

Over the course of eight weeks, this engaging program will introduce participants to a wide range of puppetry techniques designed for both stage and screen. Learn how to bring puppets to life, expand your skill set, and gain hands-on experience under the guidance of skilled puppeteers.

Workshops will take place on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and will alternate between film techniques (starting June 18th) and theatre techniques (starting June 25th).

Theatre puppetry workshops will train puppeteers in rod and brown paper puppet techniques (similar to the Japanese Bunraku style of puppetry). Covered skills will include:

- breath work

- weight of a puppet

- focus

- object manipulation

- creating characters

Film puppetry workshops will focus on hand and rod puppets (also called muppet-style puppetry) and rod puppetry. The workshops will focus on:

- character development

- rod manipulation

- lip-syncing to music

- choreography

- scene improvisation
